WHAT YOU NEED-

  • Ground Beef– The type of ground beef matters when it comes to making the best burgers from scratch! You want to use ground beef with a higher fat content to get juicy patties. The best ground beef to use is a blend of 80% lean beef and 20% fat, or 85/15. Ground chuck is a great cut for patties.
  • Egg– Adding an egg to the patty’s mixture works as a binder for the ingredients, helping the patties hold their shape.
  • Garlic– Freshly minced garlic cloves add so many flavors to your patties!
  • Burger Seasoning– For the burger seasoning, this recipe calls for a mixture of salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika. You can also use any other delicious seasonings or even burger blends like Kinder’s burger blend.

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE BURGERS

With just a couple of steps, you can have homemade juicy patties on the grill!

  1. Prepare by lining a baking sheet or plate with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, add the ground beef, egg, minced garlic, and burger seasonings.
  3. Using your hands, mix everything until seasoning is well combined.
  4. Roughly divide the patty mixture into 8 even sized balls.
  5. Using your hands or a patty press, shape each ball into a round patty. LINK You want the patty to be larger than your buns, about 4-inches in diameter, since patties shrink when they are cooked.
  6. Add the shaped patties to the prepared parchment paper, repeating until all 8 patties are done.
  7. Cook the burger patties with the desired cooking method, on the stove top, air fryer, or on the grill. Once the burgers reach desired doneness, remove from heat and assemble burgers.
  8. Serve immediately with desired sides.

MAKING AHEAD AND STORING

Whether you are making these juicy burgers to enjoy right away, or preparing ahead of time for a future cookout, this burger patty recipe is perfect! Once the patties are assembled, there are several different ways to store these patties.

  • Freezer– Add the patties onto a parchment paper line plate or tray, whatever fits into the freezer. Freeze for about 1-2 hours, or until the patties are firm. Transfer to an airtight container or freezer bag, stacking the patties between parchment paper. Freeze for up to 3 months. To enjoy, thaw and then cook.

Just like steak, you can have your burgers cooked to your desired doneness. You can have the burgers cooked all the way through or leave them slightly pink. Here are some of the classic doneness and cooking times when cooking ground beef burger patties:

When sautéing the burgers do I need to add oil or butter?

Totally! Once the burger patty is cooked, top them with your desired sliced cheese and allow it to melt as you assemble the rest of the burger.
