BURGER BOWL RECIPE

Burger bowls are a healthier spin off the classic grilled burgers! Simple bowls loaded with a hearty ground beef base, classic toppings and topped with delicious homemade sauce. Whip this dinner in under 15 minutes, such a great dinner for busy weeknights or perfect for meal prepping!

WHAT YOU NEED-

  • Beef– Like a classic burger patty, you want to use ground beef for this recipe. For the best juicy burger bowls, you want to use an 80/20 ground beef. You can also just use burger patties and just break apart when cooking.
  • Romaine – Shredded romaine or iceberg lettuce will work well for this burger bowl!
  • Cheese – Your go-to shredded cheese can be used. Mozzarella, mild cheddar, or a Mexican blend all work great.
  • Tomato – Finely chopped tomatoes or halved cherry tomatoes are delicious in these bowls.
  • Onion – Sliced or chopped red onion or sweet onions work well.
  • Pickles – Use your favorite pickles! Hamburger-style pickles, bread and butter pickles, sliced gherkin pickles, or even relish can be used.
  • Burger Sauce- Adding my homemade burger sauce to these easy burger bowls brings this dish together. You can use either homemade burger sauce or your favorite store-bought burger sauce.

HOW TO MAKE BURGER BOWLS

Have these simple beef burger bowls ready in under 15 minutes!

  1. Prepare all the desired burger toppings.
  2. In a skillet, sauté the ground beef with seasoning until brown. Be sure to break apart the beef as it cooks.
  3. Once the beef is cooked, assemble the bowls with the beef and desired toppings.
  4. Serve with homemade burger sauce and desired sides.
Cheeseburger style– If you love your burgers with cheese, add cheese to the ground beef and allow to melt before adding to your burger bowls.

BURGER BOWL VARIATIONS

You can make themed burger bowls, just like when you order specialty burgers! Here are some variations of classic burger bowls:

  • Viral Hot Honey– Make the viral ground beef bowl by adding roasted sweet potatoes, avocado, cottage cheese and drizzled hot honey to the ground beef!
  • Mushroom & Swiss Cheese– Load the burger bowl with sauteed mushrooms and onions topped with Swiss cheese.
  • Potato– Adding roasted little potatoes, French fries, potato wedges or sweet potatoes adds more flavor and makes it a heartier dish!

QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE:

Do I have to use ground beef?

No, you can totally swap the ground beef out for ground chicken or ground turkey.

What other sauce can I use?

I highly recommend that you try my homemade burger sauce, but you can totally use creamy Ranch, ketchup, mustard or even chick-fil-a sauce!

How do I meal prep these burger bowls?
