WHAT YOU NEED-

  • Mangoes– Be sure you are using fresh, ripe mangoes for this salsa! You can also use pre-cut mango if preferred for faster prep.
  • Tomato– You can’t have fresh salsa without tomatoes! You can use either heirloom tomatoes, Campari, or even cherry tomatoes.
  • Peppers– I find that the red or orange bell pepper works best in this fresh salsa. You can use either regular or mini bell peppers.
  • Jalapenos– To balance out the sweet and savory flavors, adding jalapenos is the secret! I recommend using fresh jalapenos for this salsa.
  • Onion– Either red onion or sweet onion will work, I love using red onion for all my salsas!
  • Cilantro– You can’t forget the fresh cilantro! This adds additional flavors that are a must in salsa! If you don’t like cilantro, you can leave it out.
  • Lime– Either fresh lime or lemon juice can be used for this mango salsa recipe.
  • Garlic– Freshly minced garlic is what is best for this salsa, but you can also use canned jarred garlic.
  • Flavor– To season this salsa, this recipe calls for salt and chili powder. You can also add some Tajin seasoning for the ultimate kick!

MANGO SALSA VARIATION

There are several different variations to mango salsa that you need to try!

  • Mango Peach Salsa– Do a mix of both fresh, ripe mangoes and peaches! This is a great summer salsa.
  • Mango Habanero Salsa– If you are not afraid of spice, swap the jalapenos for habanero peppers and make a mango habanero salsa, a true classic!
  • Pineapple Mango Salsa– For a more tropical salsa, do a combination of pineapples and mangoes in this salsa!
  • Mango Avocado Salsa– You can also add avocadoes to your mango salsa for a heartier salsa, so GOOD!

SERVING IDEAS

There are several different ways that you can enjoy this fresh mango salsa!

QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE:

How do I know that my mango is ripe and ready for salsa?

To determine whether the mango is ready, you want to feel it, if it’s soft like an avocado or peach then it’s ready! You want to avoid overly soft and mushy mangoes.

Is this salsa spicy?

There is a slight kick from the jalapenos in this salsa, but the spice level is low, since the sweetness from the mangoes is overpowering. If you want spicier salsa, don’t clean out the membrane of the jalapenos or swap for a spicier pepper.

Can I leave out the cilantro?

I highly recommend leaving in the cilantro for added flavors, but you can leave it out if you don’t like cilantro.

Can I add more tomatoes and less mangoes to this salsa?

Yes! For a more savory salsa, you can add less mangoes and more tomatoes.

How long does fresh mango salsa last?

Store the salsa in an airtight container or covered in the fridge for up to 2-3 days! I find that mango salsa is the best when it sits overnight, allowing all the flavors to blend.
