EASY QUESO RECIPE
There is something about warm, melty, smokey queso that keeps everyone coming back for more. This homemade queso dip recipe is going to become a hit! Creamy, rich and smooth queso that is loaded with all the same flavors that you get when ordering it from your favorite Mexican restaurant. Whether you are having taco night, hosting a game day or just craving a cheesy dip, this homemade queso Blanco is everything you need!
WHAT YOU NEED-
- Cheese– For this recipe, you want to use American white cheese, which you can find at the deli section of most grocery stores. Be sure to use white not yellow American cheese!
- Jalapenos– You want to use finely chopped canned jalapenos along with the juices from the can! The jalapenos are what give this creamy dip flavor and a slight kick!
- Cream– To thin out this cheesy dip, you want to use half and half creamer. It thins out but still gives you a creamy dip. You can substitute half and half creamer for milk if that’s all you have on hand.
- Flavors– To season this white queso, this recipe calls for salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. You can also use a little bit of taco seasoning if preferred.
HOW TO MAKE QUESO BLANCO RECIPE
Have this creamy and smooth white queso dip ready in no time!
- Add all the ingredients for the queso dip to a pot or medium saucepan and heat over medium-low heat.
- Cook until the cheese has melted into a creamy, smooth dip. (Be sure to keep on low and sir occasionally to avoid the cheese from burning.)
- Remove the queso from the heat and transfer to a serving bowl.
- Serve immediately with tortilla chips.
SLOW COOKER QUESO
This creamy dip is perfect when made in the slow cooker! Double the recipe and make a large batch for you next Mexican night.
- Add all the ingredients for the queso into the slow cooker.
- Set it to low and cook for about 1-2 hours, stirring every 15-20 minutes to incorporate the ingredients. As the queso heats up, the cheese will slowly turn into a smooth, creamy queso.
- Once the queso is fully melted and combined, switch the slow cooker to warm.
- Serve warm straight from the slow cooker with tortilla chips.
| Do NOT cook the queso on high or you will run into burning the cheese, cooking it on low keeps the queso smooth and creamy. |

QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE:
If you find your queso to be too thick, just add a little bit more half and half to thin out the cheese!
Adding the jalapenos and juices is what gives this queso its flavor, but for a milder option you can totally use green chilies.
If you add a lot of jalapeno this dip can be spicy, but if you want to keep it on the milder side, just add less jalapenos.
Store the leftover queso in the fridge for 3-4 days. When ready to enjoy, just reheat and serve!
Reheat the queso in the microwave or on the stove top on low until reheated. You can add a couple of splashes of creamer to help thin it out.
This is normal, it’s just the cheese turning into this natural solid form. You want to keep reheating it or serve this queso over a warmer!
