WHAT YOU NEED-
- Hoagie Buns– For the best results, you want to use a good quality hoagie roll or sub bun. I love to use the hoagie rolls from the bakery section of my local grocery store for a fresher bun.
- Steak– You want to use thinly sliced ribeye steak for the most authentic flavors! You can also use top sirloin steak, skirt steak or even flank steak. The key is to slice the steak super thin for the best results.
- Peppers– I love to use green bell peppers for all my cheese steak sandwiches! You can substitute for another color bell pepper or just leave the peppers out completely.
- Onions– You can use either red onion or yellow onion for this recipe. The key is to get caramelized onions for the delicious flavor!
- Mushrooms– Although mushrooms are totally optional, they add so many additional flavors! Either white button mushrooms or portobello mushrooms can be used.
- Cheese– This recipe calls for sliced provolone cheese, but you can also use sliced Swiss cheese or Colby Jack cheese.
- Flavor– To season the veggies and steak, I use a simple blend of salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika! You can use any other additional seasonings you prefer!
- Sauce– What elevates these subs is this sauce, it elevates the flavors and helps you avoid dry sandwiches! The sauce is just a simple mix of mayo and ketchup.
