| Ceremonial Grade vs Culinary Grade– Ceremonial grade matcha is the higher quality of matcha. Culinary grade tends to be a lower quality, meaning it will taste more grassy and muddy and with be less green. I recommend you use ceremonial grade matcha! |
WHAT IS MATCHA?
You might be wondering, what is matcha? It is a Japanese green tea powder made from dried tea leaves that is grinded down into a powder. Unlike classic tea, when drinking matcha you are consuming the green tea leaves which are packed with antioxidants. The benefits may lower blood pressure, reduce heart disease, and even help boost metabolism!
WHAT YOU NEED-
- Matcha Powder– For the best results, you want to use a high quality matcha powder! There are some brands that are very pricey! If you are new and don’t want to break the bank, try the Jade Leaf matcha, it is affordable and delicious. Chamberlin Matcha is another popular brand that is pricier.
- Water– For an iced matcha latte, you want to use cold drinking water. Like coffee beans, you will mix the matcha powder with water before adding it to the milk.
- Milk– Like a classic latte, you can use either dairy or non-dairy creamer. Regular half and half creamer, almond milk, oat milk, flavored creamer or any other cream you prefer will work!
- Sweetener– To sweeten this matcha you can use sugar, honey, liquid sugar cane, or any other flavorings like caramel, hazelnut, strawberry, etc.
HOW TO MAKE AN ICED MATCHA LATTE
- Using a small sieve, sift the matcha powder into a bowl or cup. This step helps eliminate any clumps and ensures a smoother drink.
- Add the water to the bowl, and using a matcha mixer, whisk, or hand frother, mix until the matcha powder dissolves into the water and has become creamy.
- In a cup, add ice and pour the matcha over the ice.
- Then top with the desired amount of creamer and flavoring.
- Stir and enjoy!
| Matcha Powder Ratio– The amount of powder to water can be adjusted to the strength you want your matcha to be! If you like a bolder flavor, add more powder and for a milder taste, add less powder. |
LATTE VARIATION
