ICED CARAMEL LATTE
With just a few basic ingredients you can make this delicious, iced caramel latte! Instead of going and spending money at your local coffee shop, why not make an iced latte at home for a fraction of the price? You can customize the drink with its strength and sweetness levels.
IS AN ICED LATTE THE SAME AS AN ICED COFFEE?
No, there is a difference between an iced coffee and an iced latte! An iced latte is usually made with espresso shots, whereas an iced coffee is made with drip coffee brewed from a coffee maker. A latte is also creamier because it takes more milk or creamer than a classic coffee.
WHAT YOU NEED-
COFFEE
To achieve the perfect latte, the key is the perfect pour of espresso or strong coffee! The great thing about making this homemade iced latte is that you can adjust the coffee strength depending on the type of beans you use! There 5 common roasts of beans you can use when making coffee or espresso:
- Espresso– For a classic latte, you want to use espresso beans to get strong and bold coffee or espresso! Our favorite Espresso beans are the Lavazza Espresso Beans.
- Light Roast– If you like coffee but don’t prefer strong coffee, you want to lean on the light roast beans. You want to try the Just Bright Coffee Beans.
- Medium Roast– When using medium roast beans, you will usually have coffee with a thicker body with creamy notes. We love the Eight O’clock Beans!
- Dark Roast– For lattes, other than espresso roast, dark roast is your next best bet!
- Decaf– You can use decaf coffee beans! You will still get great results, minus the caffeine.
CREAMER
Whether you are using milk or cream, use a high-quality brand to get the perfect creamy latte!
- Milk– A classic latte used milk! You can use whole milk or 2% milk for this drink.
- Creamer– We love using half-and-half creamer for our lattes! Coffee creamer tends to be creamier than milk, so it elevates the iced latte.
- Non-Dairy– Just because you are avoiding dairy, doesn’t mean you should avoid this delicious, iced latte recipe! Use non-dairy or dairy-free creamers or milk such as oat milk or almond milk.
FLAVORING
When it comes to flavoring this caramel latte, you want to use a caramel flavoring that you love! There are several different ways that you can flavor your latte.
- Creamer– You can use caramel creamer to flavor the coffee!
- Sauce– Using caramel sauce is what this recipe uses! Adding thick caramel sauce elevates the latte. You can use Ghirardelli caramel sauce, Torani Caramel sauce, or caramel sauce for ice cream, like the Smucker’s caramel sauce.
- Syrup– A common way to flavor coffee is by using coffee flavoring syrups, the Torani brand is popular. You can use sugar-free or classic caramel syrup or even skinny caramel syrup.
