PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE
This homemade recipe is a copycat of the classic Starbucks pumpkin spice latte! Our homemade version is cheaper, less calories, and you can enjoy it all season long in the comfort of your own home. The latte is flavored with a sweet pumpkin spice sauce that gives you the ultimate fall flavor.
| What is a latte? You might be wondering what the difference between a latte and a regular cup of jo is. A latte is a stronger coffee, it is made up of 2 shots of espresso, flavoring and steamed frothed milk. A regular cup of coffee is less strong and mixed with cold creamer. |
WHAT YOU NEED-
- Coffee– This recipe used 2 shots of espresso, but you can use espresso, freshly brewed coffee, drip coffee, or even instant coffee for this latte recipe!
- Pumpkin Sauce– To flavor the coffee, we use our homemade copycat Starbucks pumpkin spice sauce! You can also use store-bought pumpkin spice sauce or even pumpkin spice syrup.
- Milk– When it comes to frothing milk, you want to use milk that contains higher fat for the perfect froth. You can use whole milk, half and half creamer. If you want to keep this healthier or even dairy-free, no worries! Use 2% milk, almond creamer, coconut creamer or any other non-dairy creamers, plain or vanilla.
- Whipped Cream– Whipped cream is totally optional! Top your latte with whipped cream for additional flavors!
- Pumpkin Pie Spice– Just like Starbucks, sprinkle the top of the latte with pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon for looks and added flavor.
| Additional sweetener– You can add more or less of the pumpkin spice flavoring, depending on the sweetness level you prefer. Additional sweeteners can be used such as Torani pumpkin spice syrup. |

You want to make sure you are using high quality espresso or coffee beans! There is a difference between the types of roasts, which affects the strength of your coffee. Use your desired roast of beans depending on the strength of your preferred coffee.
- Light Roast– Light roast usually gives off notes of fruity and nutty. The coffee is less bitter and sweeter than other roasts. We recommend the THIS light roast bag of beans!
- Medium Roast– Medium roasts tend to have a thicker body with notes of caramel, milky chocolate. We recommend the Eight O’clock brand for medium roast.
- Dark Roast– Dark roast is a stronger blend with smoky, dark chocolate notes. We recommend the Copper Moon Dark Beans recipe.
- Espresso– If you love your coffee strongly, you can use espresso beans! We recommend the Lavazza Espresso Beans, they are our favorite!
- Decaf– When craving a pumpkin spice latte without caffeine, no worries! Use decaf beans, we recommend the Dunkin Decaf Beans.
FROTHING METHODS
There are several different methods to froth your milk. Here are 3 different ways you can froth your milk:
- Hand Frother– Once the milk is warmed on the stove top, use a hand frother and whisk until foamy.
- Frother Machine– If you are an avid latte drinker, we highly recommend you get a frother machine! It froths and even warms the milk for you!
