HOT CHOCOLATE BAR IDEAS

The fun part about this charcuterie board is that you add anything you want to it. Whatever you think will go with hot chocolate will work, so be creative and have fun! To start, here are some popular ideas to add:

HOT CHOCOLATE

You can have a hot chocolate charcuterie board without the drink itself! You can have the hot chocolate already made or you can add hot cocoa powder to your board. Here are some hot chocolates you can add to your hot cocoa bar:

If you are serving premade hot chocolate alongside this board, make my homemade hot chocolate in the slow cooker and keep it on the crockpot warm setting during the party!

CUPS & MUGS

You can’t forget the serving cups for the hot chocolate! Use either regular coffee or tea mugs, Styrofoam white cups, or for a prettier look, use the cute to-go coffee mugs that come with a sleeve and lid! You can also provide stirring straws or plastic mini spoons.

MARSHMALLOWS-

There is something about floating marshmallows in your hot cocoa that makes it taste all the better! You want to have a variety of marshmallows, from jumbo to mini. The variety helps fill up the board and gives more options for everyone. Check out some great marshmallows you can add:

SYRUPS & SAUCES

Another great idea to add to your hot chocolate bar or charcuterie board is sauces and syrups to flavor the hot chocolate. Use cute syrup dispensers and sauce dispensers to add aesthetics.

  • Sugar Free Peppermint Syrup
  • Gingerbread Syrup
  • Caramel Syrup or Syrup
  • White Chocolate Sauce
  • Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Sauce
  • Condensed Milk
Adult Chocolate Bar– Add your go to alcohol to the hot chocolate bar for spiced hot chocolate. Classic ways to spike your hot chocolate are with peppermint schnapps, baileys Irish cream, dark rum, Kahula, or even Irish whiskey can be used.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE CHARCUTERIE BOARD

There is no specific way you assemble a charcuterie board! Be creative and have fun when laying everything out!

  1. Prep– Once you have all the ingredients, lay everything out. Along with the small bowls, ramekins, spoons, and cups you will use. Having everything in front of you will help you when assembling.
  2. Pick your Board– Choose your choice of shape and size platter you are going to use! We love using a large round cutting board or a rectangle platter.
  3. Bowls & Ramekins– Fill up our mini bowls or decorative ramekins with the smaller ingredients, sauces or whatever else you choose. Arrange the bowls throughout the board, apart from each other.
  4. Main Ingredients– Decoratively layout largest ingredients around the bowls, across the board.
  5. Fillers– Go in and fill all the empty areas with the rest of the ingredients to fill and finish the look of the board.
Hot Chocolate Bar– Assembling a hot chocolate bar is a little different than a charcuterie board! You will just add all your toppings into bowls, jars, or containers and you can even make cute, themed labels!

QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE:

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes! You can either prep everything or make the entire board ahead of time, just be sure to cover it with plastic wrap to avoid anything drying out or going stale.

Can I travel with my hot chocolate charcuterie board?

I like to pack all my ingredients with me and assemble them once I get to my destination to avoid any messy situations during travel.

What do I do with leftovers?

I like to save all the bags and packages in case there are leftovers, so I can add them back to bags for later use. Only save the untouched leftovers.

CHARCUTERIE BOARD MASHUP

Do a mix of a hot chocolate board and a dessert board! So, you can create a delicious cup of hot cocoa and pair it with the right sweet treats. Add different types of cookies and desserts to go with your hot chocolate!
