WHAT YOU NEED-
- Flour– Be sure to use good quality all-purpose flour when it combines with baking. I like to use Bob’s Red Mill All-Purpose flour for all my baking.
- Baking Soda & Powder– Make sure that you use fresh baking soda and baking powder so that your banana bread rises to perfection.
- Salt– Adding salt to the batter enhances all the flavors in the bread batter.
- Cinnamon– You can’t go wrong when you add ground cinnamon to this chocolate chip banana bread recipe, bringing warmth and spice!
- Bananas– For the best results, you want to use overripe bananas, which are brown, spotty bananas. The reason banana bread is best with ripe bananas is because as bananas ripen, the starches transform into sugar, which is what gives you sweet, delicious banana bread!
- Eggs– Adding fresh large eggs to the banana bread batter is what helps give moisture to the loaf.
- Oil– You want to use vegetable oil, canola oil or even olive oil for this chocolate chip banana bread recipe. Oil helps give you soft, moist banana loaf.
- Sugar– To sweeten this banana bread, this recipe calls for both granulated sugar and brown sugar. Since the overripe bananas and chocolate chips give a lot of sweetness, you can adjust the sugar amounts to avoid overly sweet banana bread.
- Vanilla– Vanilla extract brings additional flavors to this homemade banana bread. If you don’t have anything to hand, no worries just leave it out.
- Chocolate– You can use mini or regular chocolate chips or even chopped chocolate chunks. Semi-sweet, milk, or dark chocolate all work well in this dessert loaf. I like to mix mini and regular chips, using a blend of semi-sweet and dark chocolate for extra flavor.
