You will not regret making a batch of this homemade sweet tea! Sweetened black tea mixed with delicious raspberry syrup. This refreshing sweet tea recipe is better than any food chain restaurant sweet tea. Double up the portion and have this sweet tea in the fridge to enjoy all week long!

WHAT YOU NEED-

  • Tea Bags– This recipe calls for the classic Lipton black tea bags. You can use any of your favorite black tea bags. Decaf tea bags can also be used.
  • Water– Be sure to use drinking water!
  • Sugar– For the sweetener you can use granulated sugar, agave sweetener, honey, cane liquid sugar, raw sugar, stevia, or any other sweetener.
  • Raspberries– You can use either fresh or frozen raspberries!
  • Lemon– Fresh lemon juice gives the raspberry syrup a kick of zest.
Tea Strength: The amount of tea bags you use will change the strength of the tea. If you like strong tea, add 1-2 more tea bags and if you like your tea less strong, use less tea bags.

RASPBERRY SYRUP

The key to this raspberry iced tea recipe is the homemade raspberry syrup! It’s so easy to make and gives you the best raspberry flavors, better than any store-bought syrup.

  1. Add the raspberries, water, sweetener, and lemon juice to a saucepan.
  2. Simmer for 10 minutes and then remove from heat and cool.
  3. Once cooled, divide the syrup from the mashed raspberries using a strainer.
  4. Add syrup to a jar and store in the fridge until ready to make sweet tea.

HOW TO MAKE SWEET TEA

Making homemade sweet tea is so easy and a great drink for the entire family to enjoy!

  1. Bring the water to a boil. Once boiling turn off the heat and add in the sugar and tea bags.
  2. Allow the tea bags to steep for 10-15 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags and allow the tea to fully cool.
  3. Once the tea is cooled, add a pitcher. Add in the raspberry syrup and mix to combine. Store in the fridge.
  4. When ready to serve, add ice to the pitcher and some fresh raspberries and lemon slices to the pitcher and serve.

SWEET TEA VARIATIONS

There are so many different flavors of tea you can have! Check out some of our favorite flavors:

  • Plain Sweet Tea– Keep it simple and keep it just plain! Opt out of the raspberry syrup and serve the classic iced tea.
  • Lemon Tea– Don’t add raspberry syrup and add some lemon juice to the tea instead for a simple lemon sweet tea.
  • Flavored Syrup– Skip the homemade syrup and use your go-to flavored sweeteners. We recommend the Torani syrups or a healthier version, skinny girl flavors.
  • Peach Raspberry– Add peaches along with the raspberries for Raspberry Peach Tea!
  • Berry– Make this a multi-berry tea by making berry syrup.
  • Peach– Switch out the raspberries for frozen or fresh peaches for a Peach tea drink.
