YOGURT PARFAIT RECIPE

This easy Greek yogurt parfait recipe is fun, flavorful and totally customizable! Layers of rich and cream yogurt, juicy fresh fruit and crunchy granola combined into a delicious treat that is sweet, crunchy and filling. Yogurt parfaits make for a great breakfast, snack, or dessert after dinner!

WHY I LOVE PARFAITS

There are so many reasons for my love for parfaits!

  • Fresh– Nothing beats a fresh and flavorful treat, and that is exactly what you get in this fresh parfait!
  • Healthier– When craving a sweet treat or a snack, reaching for a homemade parfait is way healthier than reaching for cookies.
  • Customizable– I love customizing my parfaits with different kinds of fruits, purees, nuts, granola, and more! You can have fun with your parfait flavors!
  • Filling– Not only is this quick and easy, but when it comes to this Greek yogurt parfait, its hearty, filling and full of protein!
  • Less Sugar– Making your own parfait allows you to control the sugar intake! Swap for homemade granola and use plain Greek yogurt and add a little bit of your own sweetener!
  • Versatile– You can enjoy this as a snack, breakfast, or even a dessert after your meals. I love how versatile it is!
  • Affordable– If you want a parfait, the premade ones can run pricy! But making them at home is so affordable!

WHAT YOU NEED-

  • Yogurt– You can use your favorite regular or Greek yogurt! For a healthier option I like to use plain non-fat Greek yogurt. Any other flavor yogurt can also be used.
  • Sweetener– Since I use plain Greek yogurt, I love to sweeten it! You can use either honey, maple syrup, agave sweetener, or even brown sugar. Adding sweetener to the yogurt is optional. Skip if you are using flavored yogurt.
  • Fruit– Add any of your favorite fresh fruit! Berries, bananas, cherries, mango, or any other fruit you prefer.
  • Granola– Either homemade granola or store-bought can be used! Your favorite flavor of granola will go great. I love using cinnamon granola that is loaded with nuts.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE A YOGURT PARFAIT

Making yogurt parfait cannot get easier than this!

  1. Mix plain Greek yogurt and sweetener until well combined.
  2. Spoon about half of the yogurt into a glass or container.
  3. Add half of the fresh fruit and add the rest of the yogurt on top.
  4. Top with the rest of the fresh fruit, granola, and any other desired toppings.
  5. Enjoy it immediately. (If you are prepping ahead, don’t add the granola until right before serving to avoid it from getting soggy.)

PARFAIT VARIATIONS-

  • Strawberry Parfait– Use a strawberry yogurt and layer it with freshly chopped strawberries and granola!
  • Peanut Butter Banana– Instead of mixing the Yogurt with a sweetener, mix it with peanut butter and serve with sliced bananas and chopped nuts!
  • Smore Parfait– For the ultimate sweet treat make it smore style! Layer your yogurt with chocolate chunks, and crushed graham crackers.
  • Banana Pudding Parfait– Layer the sweetened yogurt with sliced bananas and crushed vanilla wafers!
  • Tropical Parfait– If you love tropical flavors, layer your yogurt with tropical fresh fruit, sliced almonds and shredded coconut!
  • Ice Cream Parfait– Swap the yogurt for vanilla ice cream and layer with fresh berries or fruit jam/sauce and granola! This is the ultimate summer sweet treat!

PARFAIT ADDITIONS

You don’t only have to add fresh fruit and granola to your parfait! The additives are endless:

  • Fresh Fruit
  • Granola
  • Chopped Nuts
  • Shredded Coconut
  • Chocolate Chips or Chunks
  • Crushed Cookies (Oreos, Biscoff, Cookies, Graham Crackers)
  • Chia Seeds

QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE:

Do I have to use plain Greek yogurt?

No! You can totally swap out the plain Greek yogurt for any other Greek yogurt flavor! You can also swap Greek yogurt for regular yogurt. I love swapping for honey vanilla Greek yogurt flavor.

Do I use fresh or frozen fruit?

Although for the best flavors, I recommend that you use fresh fruit, you can also use frozen fruit, just give them some time to thaw.

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes, you can make the parfaits ahead of time, just don’t add the granola. Add your fruit on top of the yogurt and when ready to enjoy top with granola and enjoy!

How do I store yogurt parfaits?

To store the parfaits, layer the yogurt and fruit in your jars or containers (store the granola separately), close and store it in the fridge for 2-4 days.

Do I have to parfait jars?

No, you can use mason jars, cups or even a container for your parfaits. If you love parfaits, then I recommend investing in parfait containers!
