HAM AND CHEESE CROISSANT SANDWICHES
The combination of flavors in these ham and cheese croissant sandwiches is the best! Buttery, flakey croissants filled with ham, melted cheese and a sweet and tangy honey mustard sauce, baked to perfection. Whether you are looking for a brunch, lunch or snack idea these croissant sandwiches are the way to go!
WHAT YOU NEED-
- Croissants– You can use pre-made croissants or make fresh croissants from scratch! Either regular, large or mini croissants can be used. I like to use store-bought premade croissants for an easier recipe.
- Ham– Either baked ham or ham from the deli will work for these sandwiches. I love using black forest honey baked ham from the deli.
- Cheese– This recipe calls for Swiss cheese, but you can also use Colby jack, mozzarella, monetary jack, muenster cheese, or even American cheese.
- Honey Mustard Sauce– Store-bought or homemade honey mustard sauce can be used. The added sauce totally elevates this dish and goes so well with ham and cheese. You can also use the popular Chick-fil-a sauce instead!
- Garlic Butter– Topping these croissants with garlic butter is the cherry on top of these sandwiches. The garlic butter is made with melted butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
HOW TO MAKE HAM AND CHEESE CROISSANTS
With just a few steps, you can have these warm and melted croissant sandwiches ready in no time!
- Preheat the oven and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. (You can use a baking sheet or casserole dish.)
- Spread the honey mustard on both sides of each croissant. Add ham and cheese to each croissant sandwich and close. Repeat to have a total of six croissants.
- Place the croissants on the lined baking sheet, in a single layer.
- With a pastry brush, brush the sandwiches with the garlic butter.
- Bake in the oven until the cheese has melted and croissants are toasted.
- Serve warm with additional honey mustard sauce.
MAKING AHEAD
These sandwiches can totally be made ahead of time!
- Assemble the sandwich and add to the baking sheet, but do not add the garlic butter yet.
- Cover and keep in the fridge for 1-2 days.
- When ready to enjoy, brush the croissants with the garlic butter and bake the preheated oven until warmed through and the cheese has melted. (The time might be longer since the sandwiches are straight from the fridge.)
