AIR FRYER APPLES

This simple dessert recipe is not only easy to make but a healthier alternative when craving something sweet! These sliced apples tossed in a cinnamon sugar mixture and then air fried result in gooey warm cinnamon apples. Pair these apples with some vanilla ice cream for the ultimate sweet treat!

WHAT YOU NEED-

  • Apples– For the best results, you want to use a mix of sweet and tart apples! Apples recommended to use: Granny Smith, Honey Crisp, Gala, Fuji, Pink Lady, Jonathan, Braeburn or any other of your favorite apples.
  • Butter– Adding the melted butter to the apples helps give you a warm cinnamon glaze instead of dry apples. For a healthier version, swap out the butter for coconut oil!
  • Sweetener– To sweeten these apples we use brown sugar, but you can use your go-to sweetener! Sweeteners like maple syrup, honey, or leave it unsweetened, depending on the sweetness of the apples you choose.
  • Vanilla– Adding vanilla extract, gives more flavors to the filling.
  • Cinnamon– Adding cinnamon to these apples totally elevates these apples! You can substitute cinnamon for pumpkin pie spice or even apple pie spice.

HOW TO MAKE CINNAMON APPLES IN THE AIR FRYER

  1. Wash, peel and pit the apples. Slice into even sized slices, add to a bowl.
  2. Toss the apple slices with the rest of the ingredients until well combined.
  3. Add the apples along with the juice to the air fryer basket.
  4. Air fry the apples until soft and tender.
  5. Serve with desired sides.
Cooking Tip– The juice from the apples is the key, make sure to not forget to use all the gooey sauce from the bottom of the air fryer!

OTHER COOKING METHODS

No air fryer? No worries! You can totally make these fried apples using a couple different cooking methods. You can also use an air fryer liner to avoid the glaze falling through the holes of the basket.

  • Stove Top– Add the apples and juice to a skillet and cook on medium low heat until the apples become tender, stirring occasionally.
  • Oven– Add the apples and the juices into a casserole dish and bake at 350°F for about 45 minutes or until the apples are tender. Tip: Add some cornstarch to the mixture to thicken the glaze.
  • Slow Cooker– Add all the ingredients into the crockpot bowl and mix to combine. Cook on low for 3-4 hours or until the apples are tender.
