PEANUT BUTTER BALLS
These smooth peanut butter balls coated in chocolate are truly the perfect treat! With just 5 simple ingredients you can make these no bake dessert bites. Peanut butter, butter and powdered sugar mixed until smooth and thick, then formed into balls and dipped into chocolate.
WHAT YOU NEED-
- Peanut Butter– You don’t only have to use classic peanut butter, but you can even use crunchy peanut butter.
- Butter– You want to use softened unsalted butter; the butter is what gives the bites creaminess.
- Vanilla– For an extra kick of flavor, vanilla extract is added.
- Powdered Sugar– Powdered sugar is what gives these dessert balls sweetness. You want to make sure you are using powdered sugar, also known as confectioners’ sugar.
- Chocolate– If you want to drizzle or dip the dessert balls, you want to use good quality melting chocolate.
HOW TO MAKE PEANUT BUTTER BALLS
These peanut butter balls are ready in no time and so fun to make!
- Mix the peanut butter, vanilla, and softened butter until creamy.
- Add in the powdered sugar and mix until thick batter like cookies dough.
- Form 1-inch round balls with the batter, repeating with all the batter. Place the peanut butter balls in the freezer for about 10 minutes to harden.
- Melt chocolate in a bowl. Remove the bites from the freezer. Dip or drizzle with chocolate, depending on the desired style.
- Allow for the chocolate to harden by adding them back into the freezer. Once the chocolate has hardened. serve!

MELTING CHOCOLATE
It may sound so simple to melt chocolate, but it can be trickier than you think! Here are some of our tips to melt chocolate without any hiccups:
What kind of chocolate do I use?
You want to be sure you are using a good quality chocolate such as Ghirardelli. You can use any chocolate chip morsels, melting chips, chocolate chunks or even chocolate bars.
What flavor of chocolate?
The type of chocolate is up to your preference, either dark, milk or even white chocolate can be used! You can even mix it up and use both milk and white chocolate for a prettier décor.
How do I melt the chocolate?
There are several different methods to melt chocolate! It is just very important to be patient and use low heat setting to not burn the chocolate. Here are some of our go-to methods:
- Stovetop– Fill a saucepan with about an inch of water and bring to a light simmer. Add a heat safe on top of the saucepan, making sure it is not touching the water. Add the chocolate to the bowl allowing the steam to melt the chocolate. Mix until the chocolate melts.
- Microwave– Add the chocolate into a microwave safe bowl. Heat at 15 second intervals on a lower power level. Mixing in between each interval to avoid burning the chocolate. Continue until the chocolate is melted. Do NOT overheat, or the chocolate will burn and harden.
VARIATIONS
- Caramel– After the peanut butter balls are made, drizzle with chocolate and caramel!
- Coconut– Add coconut flakes into the mixture or sprinkle on top before the chocolate hardens.
- Nutty– Use chunky peanut butter or add desired chopped nuts in the mixture.
- Crunchy– For crunchy peanut butter balls, use crunchy peanut butter or add crushed nuts into the mixture.
- Oats– Oatmeal or granola is a great additive to these peanut butter balls!
- Protein– To make these protein balls, add your desired flavor of protein powder to the mix!
No Bake Peanut Butter Balls
Ingredients
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 5 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla
- melted chocolate for dipping and decor
Instructions
- In a bowl, add peanut butter and softened butter and mix with a mixer until well combined and creamy.
- Add in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract and mix until becomes thick like cookie dough.
- Line a plate or tray with parchment paper.
- Roll about a tablespoon of dough into a ball and place on the prepared plate. Repeat with all the batter. (You can create bigger or smaller balls if desired.)
- Place the peanut butter balls in the freezer for about 10 minutes to harden.
- Melt chocolate in a bowl, using your desired melting method. Remove the bites from the freezer.
- Remove the peanut butter balls from the freezer. Dip or drizzle with chocolate, depending on the desired style. You can even leave them with out chocolate!
- Allow for the chocolate to harden by adding them back into the freezer. Once the chocolate has hardened, transfer into a freezer safe bag or container and store in the freezer for up to 1 month, enjoying whenever!
