FRIED PICKLE DIP

This easy fried pickle dip is going to become your go-to appetizer! This creamy dip is loaded with savory seasonings, crunchy pickles and a crispy panko topping, the ultimate combination of flavors. This pickle dip is the perfect appetizer for parties, potlucks, game day and a great summer pool party! A simple dip that comes together in under 20 minutes.

WHAT YOU NEED-

  • Cream Cheese– Be sure to use softened cream cheese, or it will be hard to mix, and you will have lumps. Either classic or low-fat cream cheese can be used.
  • Sour Cream– Either sour cream or plain non-fat Greek yogurt can be used for this pickle dip recipe.
  • Grillo’s Pickles– For the best flavors, you want to use Grillo’s pickles. You can also swap any of your other favorite pickles. This recipe calls for the pickle juice as well.
  • Ranch Powder– The key flavor is the Ranch powder; you can use either Hidden Valley or any other brand.
  • Dill– The fresh dill goes so well with the dill pickles, it’s a total must in this dill!
  • Green Onions– For added flavor this recipe also calls for freshly chopped green onions. You can totally use green onion or even chives.
  • Flavor– If you want to add more flavor, just use salt and pepper. Your key flavors will come from the Ranch powder.
  • Panko Topping– The crunchy panko topping is what brings this fried pickle dip all together! You need plain panko breadcrumbs and butter for this topping.

HOW TO MAKE FRIED PICKLE DIP

Have this simple fried pickle dip recipe ready in no time!

  1. Crisp the panko crumbs with butter in a skillet over medium heat. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. In a bowl, mix all the ingredients for the pickle dip. Add half of the crispy panko crumbs to the dip and mix again.
  3. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and top with the rest of the crispy topping and freshly chopped dill or garnish.
  4. Serve immediately with chips, pretzels, or crackers. (For the best flavor, chill the dip for up to at least an hour before serving if time allows.)

Do I have to use Grillo’s pickles?

Although I highly recommend trying this dip the “viral” way you do not have to use Grillo’s pickles. You can use any of your favorite pickles.

Will the crispy panko topping get soggy?

Although the crumbs lose their crunch overtime, it still adds another layer of flavor to the dip!

Can I skip the panko toppings?

Yes, you can totally omit the crunchy panko topping if preferred!

Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2/3 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup Grillos dill pickles chopped
  • 3 Tbsp pickle juice
  • 1 Tbsp fresh dill finely chopped
  • 1 Tbsp green onion finely chopped
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp Ranch powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Panko Topping-

  • 2 Tbsp salted or unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs

Instructions

  • Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Once melted, add the panko crumbs and stir to coat them evenly in the butter. Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until the crumbs are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. (Watch carefully, as the breadcrumbs can burn quickly.)
    1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs, 2 Tbsp salted or unsalted butter
  • Once the crumbs are golden, remove the skillet from the heat and transfer the panko crumbs to a bowl to cool completely.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add softened cream cheese, sour cream, chopped pickles, pickle juice, fresh dill, green onions, Ranch powder, salt and pepper. Mix until smooth and fully combined. (To avoid lumps be sure the cream cheese is softened.)
    8 oz cream cheese, softened, 2/3 cup sour cream, or Greek yogurt, 1 cup Grillos dill pickles, chopped, 3 Tbsp pickle juice, 1 Tbsp fresh dill, finely chopped, 1 Tbsp green onion, finely chopped, 2 1/2 Tbsp Ranch powder, Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Add half of the crispy Panko crumbs to the dip and mix again.
  • Transfer the pickle dip to a serving bowl. Top with the remaining crispy panko crumbs and freshly chopped dill.
  • Serve with crackers, pretzels or chips. (For the best flavor, chill the dip for up to at least an hour before serving if time allows.)
