These hearty KFC famous bowls make for the ultimate dinner. Famous mashed potato bowls are a popular meal you can order at the popular food chain, KFC. The bowls come with mashed potatoes, popcorn chicken, corn, gravy and topped with cheese. This copycat recipe is easy to make and can feed the whole family for a cheaper price!
WHAT YOU NEED-
- Chicken– KFC bowls contain crispy popcorn chicken; you can use either frozen popcorn chicken or make our homemade popcorn chicken recipe. You can also use chopped frozen chicken tenders or homemade crispy tenders.
- Corn– Canned corn or frozen corn can be used for these bowls.
- Gravy– You can use either jarred gravy, make gravy from the powder or even make homemade gravy! Typical famous bowls use home-style gravy, but you can use beef gravy (brown gravy), turkey or chicken gravy if you prefer.
- Mashed Potatoes– Creamy mashed potatoes are the base for these famous bowls! You can use either homemade mashed potatoes, instant mashed potatoes, or even frozen mashed potatoes, whatever you prefer will work!
- Cheese– Any type of shredded cheese will work, but we prefer shredded cheddar or Colby jack. You can also freshly grate block cheese for fresher cheese.
HOW TO MAKE KFC FAMOUS BOWLS
- Cook the popcorn chicken according to package instructions or recipe.
- Make a batch of homemade or instant mashed potatoes. (If you are using our homemade mashed potatoes, you want to use half the recipe.)
- Heat the corn on the stovetop or microwave.
- Prepare the gravy according to package instructions.
- Add mashed potatoes, corn, and popcorn chicken to a bowl. Drizzle with gravy and then top with shredded cheese.
- Serve warm with desired sides.

KFC BOWL CASSEROLE
Want to make a large batch for a larger crowd? No problem! Make a casserole version of these potato bowls!
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and spray a casserole dish with baking spray.
- Add the prepared mashed potatoes to the casserole dish spread along the entire dish.
- Top with drained canned corn, spreading evenly over the mashed potatoes.
- Add the warmed popcorn chicken over the corn, then top with shredded cheese. Cover the dish with foil and bake for about 18-20 minutes, or until the cheese melts.
- Pour gravy all over the dish over the cheese and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
- Serve hot with desired sides.

- 5 cups mashed potatoes 1/2 of our potatoes recipe
- 24 oz popcorn chicken
- 15.25 oz corn 1 can
- .87 oz gravy mix 1 package
- 1 1/4 cups shredded cheese
Instructions
- Cook the mashed potatoes and gravy according to package or recipe instructions. Warm the corn in the microwave or on the stovetop.
- Prepare the popcorn chicken according to package or recipe instructions.
- Assemble the KFC bowls while everything is still hot.
- Add about 1 cup of mashed potatoes to a bowl then top with corn, popcorn chicken, shredded cheese and gravy.
